SPECIAL BULLETIN

The TUST board have today issued the following press statement

TUST welcomes the announcement of the Government’s fan-led review into the state of football and looks forward to supporting this important initiative in the wake of the proposal for an elite European Super League which has been condemned by all those who value the history of the game.

TUST joins with other supporters’ trusts around the country and the Football Supporters’ Association ( FSA ) in condemning those football owners who run their clubs behind closed doors without regard for their supporters’ groups.

Torquay United is a proper, community based football club which exists solely for the benefit of its fans - the Yellow Army - who are genuine, loyal supporters.

Football exists for fans - without them it’s nothing! We endorse the fact that at last fans’ opinions are to be heard and taken into account.

‘FANS UNITED' IS THE MESSAGE!

Torbay MP, Kevin Foster, commented in response to our statement: “The long established pyramid scheme in English football is vital for the survival and wellbeing of clubs like Torquay United.

In my six years as the local Member of Parliament I have seen how passionate local people are about supporting the Gulls, and the vital part that the club plays in the local community.

I agree with TUST that a fans-led review, supported by the Government, is a good idea, and I support their willingness to play a part in it given the opportunity”.
