TUST Update - Great news!

TUST UPDATE - GREAT NEWS!

************************

Chairman’s welcome

Where to begin? To have achieved our initial target inside the first week of our Community Share Issue is phenomenal and testimony to the love you have for our wonderful football club. We can't thank you enough.

Now we want to push on over the remaining four weeks of the process to achieve the biggest sum possible so if you are still waiting to invest, please do.

Your investments will give all fans a bigger voice in the running of the club as we work towards a return to the Football League.

Yellow Army Share Issue

The board are delighted with the fantastic response to the YASI launched last Friday.  The current total pledged as Wednesday dawns stands at £107,556 with 250 supporters investing so far.

While we have hit the minimum target of £100,000, we cannot emphasise enough the importance of raising as much as possible from the share issue.

All the funds raised (except for the fees associated with collecting them) will be transferred to the Club and deployed on and off pitch as the club moves to a sustainable financial model to safeguard its long-term future.

The higher the capital raise from the community share issue, the higher TUST’s equity stake in the Club will be and this will allow the Club to go further and faster in its rebuilding programme and its journey towards its stated ambition – a return the Football League.

Full details of the YASI can be found here: www.tust.co.uk/yellow-army-share-issue

TUST membership

On Tuesday we have seen TUST membership pass 1,000 from just over 400 a year ago.  There was a surge following Clarke Osborne’s announcement in February and now new members are signing up to support the share issue and our on-going work.

Co-optees

It was decided last week to co-opt Harry Lovering on to the TUST board.  Harry will be known to many of you as joint organiser of the Travel Club with Mark Shephard.  He is a teacher and runs a junior football team.  The board feel that he will be able to contribute to its objective of wider engagement with younger supporters.

At the same time it was agreed to extend the co-option of Matt Gorman and Shaun Tanner until the AGM in November in recognition of their on-going contribution to the Trust’s success.

Appointment of Trust representatives to the Club board

As you will be aware, TUST has appointed its Chairman, Nick Brodrick, to the Club board following the transfer of £50,000 from our Forever Yellow fund.  Nick will be attending his first board shortly. The board have now approved the policy for the appointment of future representatives, subject to reaching the minimum investment of £100,000.  Vacancies will be open to all TUST members and filled by a nomination and election process as follows;

  1. The TUST board will set out any specific skills or experience it is seeking for the role.

  2. TUST members can then be nominated for consideration by the TUST board.  Nominees require two TUST members as proposers.

  3. The TUST board will consider the applicants against any criteria set and elect the most suitable candidate.

  4. Appointments will be for a twelve month term and then reviewed by the TUST board and may continue for a further term if deemed appropriate.  It will normally be expected that a Trust Appointed Board Member (TABM) will serve at least two terms.

5. Terms will normally coincide with the election of TUST board members at the AGM.

6. Upon completion of a second term TABMs will be required to stand down.  They may offer themselves for re-election.

7. The TUST board have the right to remove any TABM from post at any time by a majority decision and to replace them in accordance with this policy.

Protocol for dealing with issues raised by supporters

The TUST board may request TABMs to raise any matters it deems appropriate at the Club board or with the Club Chairman or CEO.

It is important that all parties recognise that the Club board only deals with strategic or significant operational matters.  It will not consider day-to-day operational matters or details of team selection or tactics.  TABM’s will be expected to participate at this level and not raise minor issues at meetings.  They may refer such matters directly to the CEO or Head of Operations where appropriate.

 The procedure for supporters wishing to raise any matter with the Club is as follows;

  1. They can contact TUST via our info@TUST.co.uk email or the website proforma, through social media or by speaking directly to a TUST board member.

  2. If it is a straight forward query with a ready answer TUST will respond accordingly.

  3. If it is an operational matter the TABM or TUST board will either raise it directly with the CEO or Head of Operations or advise the supporter to do so themselves.  If it is a matter of general interest TUST may share it and the response with the wider fan base.

  4. If the query is deemed relevant for consideration by the Club board by a TABM or TUST board, the TABM will ask for it to be included on the agenda for the next Club board meeting or raise it as part of a topic already scheduled for discussion. In exceptional circumstances, where the issue requires immediate attention, the TABM will raise it with the Club Chairman between meetings.

  5. Responses to all matters raised with the Club board will be considered by the TUST board and shared with the fan base through regular or specific updates.

Paint Up Plainmoor

TUST led working parties have been inside Plainmoor throughout the close season. If you haven't already seen, all the hospitality suites and the restaurant - now re-named The Cove - have been redecorated with new carpets added.

All the stands have had their steps painted with just a few in Bristows left.

Home entrances on the Popside, Bristows & Family Stand have been refreshed with new paint.  If there's time before the weather changes we have the entrance area at the away end to paint.

Recognising diversity

One of TUST’s core objectives is being a positive, inclusive and representative organisation, open and accessible to all supporters of the Club regardless of their age, income, location, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexuality or religious or moral beliefs.

The board recognise that it needs to do more to meet this objective.  We mention above the desire to have greater engagement with younger supporters but this is equally true of other under-represented groups.

We welcome any suggestions that may help us to achieve this.
