We are pleased to let you know that, at a recent meeting with TUFC, Tim Herbert, the club secretary, invited us (TUST) to consider having a matchday presence within the ground this season. We believe this offers us a great opportunity and is a step forward in engaging with our supporters and the club, as well as in representing and promoting TUST more visibly and effectively! It will also be planned as something which is enjoyable to do.
On TUFC's part , they wish to improve on the matchday experience of supporters and on their impressions of the club when they visit. This really just aims at providing a friendly, helpful and welcoming presence at the main entrances. We will not be replacing the existing stewards, or wearing high visibility jackets or bibs! We will be planning together to wear comfortable clothing,e.g. a shirt or jumper,and/ or a badge that has TUST clearly displayed on it.
The draft outline, to be discussed further at the proposed volunteer meeting, is to aim to have 'hosts' at the two home turnstiles, and maybe eventually at the hospitality entrance (VIPs etc.), the Gulls Nest and at Boots and Laces, if we have enough people. This would not, we envisage, entail the same people being 'on duty' every match, or even always being placed at the same place each time. Rather, we would organise this on a negotiated rota basis. You would also only be expected to be around until kick -off time, when 'hosts' would be free to go to their 'preferred place' to watch the game etc. We would hope to receive a free ticket, when on duty.
WE ARE HOPING THAT 3 OR 4 OF YOU COULD VOLUNTEER TO JOIN US FOR A WORKING PARTY MEETING WITH TUFC AT PLAINMOOR, FROM 5:30PM. TO 6:00PM. ON TUESDAY, JULY 17TH …BEFORE THE HOME PLYMOUTH ARGYLE FRIENDLY. WE CAN THEN DISCUSS THIS IDEA FURTHER, AND ALSO BE THE FIRST VOLUNTEERS TO PILOT THIS IDEA AND GIVE OUR FEEDBACK AT A FUTURE FRIENDLY. THIS MIGHT POSSIBLY, AND PROVISIONALLY, BE AT THE BRISTOL CITY FRIENDLY, IF WE HOPEFULLY HAVE THE PEOPLE AVAILABLE.
YOU WILL, OF COURSE, RECEIVE A FREE TICKET TO THE ARGYLE MATCH FROM TUFC IN APPRECIATION OF YOUR ATTENDANCE AT THIS MEETING.

We, TUST, have been given the exclusive option to be involved with this! IF it proves to be a positive and enjoyable experience, there is every reason to hope that other interested members and also supporters in general would be encouraged to join in with our current group of volunteers. Furthermore, the roles would then be increasingly shared, and not too demanding on each individuals' time.
