“MJ would have wanted to be on the pitch from the start” said TUFC Radio co-commentator Jordan Dyer when Matt Jay smashed home the 83rd minute winner to ease tensions at Plainmoor on Saturday.
It’s not been an easy ten days or so with first Dylan Morgan off to League 2 Crawley Town followed fairly swiftly by Sam Dreyer to Harrogate Town both for decent fees and both with sell-on clauses.
And it’s odds on ‘want away’ Jordan Young’s departure will be announced soon.
It’s perhaps no coincidence that all three players have the same agent.
On the plus side the Yellow Army might just have a new hero in Jacob Beaumont-Clark whose left foot stunner saw the stadium rocking and then Deon Moore slid home the second thanks to great work from Lo-Everton.
With new left winger Angelo Cappello making a decent first impression following his release from National League FC Halifax United had their best first half of the new season.

Manager Jimmy Ball’s assertion that his side should have gone into the break seven goals ahead might have been a trifle exaggerated but we kind of knew what he meant.
The second half was a complete contrast as previously unbeaten Folkestone, the Seasiders versus the Gulls, looked to turn the match on its head before Jay clinched the points becoming joint top scorer with Moore – well, yes only two goals each!
Moore got the vote for Man of the Match but those around me would have given it to Sundire who was a stand-out with Lo-Everton close behind.
The Non-League Paper has Beaumont-Clark in their Team of the Day.

It might be early days but no points for newcomers Walton & Hersham saw their manager sacked, they’ve never really recovered from successful boss Billy Rowley leaving last November to take over at Yeovil.
And Alan Julian parted company with Slough Town, also pointless.

With Sam Dreyer helping his new team Harrogate to a 2-0 win at Scunthorpe and Jordan Dyer likely out for the season, Jimmy Ball brought in Oludare Olufunwa whose international clearance didn’t come through in time for him to play.
And Ball has another centre-back lined up.

United’s Women were in action this afternoon playing MAP at Ivybridge in the FA WNL League Cup.
After a goalless first half MAP went ahead with a penalty only for an equaliser from Sarah Stacey to end 1-1.
Next Sunday United travel to Keynsham Town.
United’s Roxy Thomas remains in an induced coma in intensive care in Bristol and her GoFundMe has gone past £15,000 thanks to everyone’s kindness and generosity.

Yesterday at Plainmoor at half-time it was great to be able to reward our poem winners to become Junior Gulls: five- year- old Layla-Rose Cole, nine- year- olds Poppy Holman, Zane Woolcott-Hawkins and Jamie Hancox (14).
Launched last month we now have 37 Junior Gulls who we hope will become lifelong fans of the future.

Despite getting a soaking when the sprinkler suddenly started it was great to give these kids a special certificate plus a specially written poem by our Plainmoor Poet Nick Wotton whose generosity has paid for two years’ membership.
