STILL TIME TO BE IN SATURDAY’S 1899 LOTTO DRAW
Potholes. If you ask what’s the most irritating part of driving at the moment, I’m guessing the answer of the majority will be potholes. But for Paul Wotton, Tuesday evening’s unexpected loss in Wiltshire at bottom club was “a bump in the road.” Good job it wasn’t a pothole.
How to account for a defeat against a team which had only won four times this season and languishing at the foot of the National South table? Matches like this happen in football and, although I’ve said it before, if we could all predict football results we would win the pools each week.

As it happened other results on Tuesday night were kind and whilst another three points would have been welcome, losing was not a disaster especially, after Saturday, with 15 games to play.
Despite the Gulls flying high the Bluebirds might have won but they didn’t knock us off our perch and United go into Saturday’s return to Plainmoor still as league leaders although Dorking are breathing down our necks.

Paul Wotton, at his press call on Thursday, acknowledged his Manager of the Month award for January as not only for him but for everyone working at the club. Was it the curse of the month? Well, you decide.

With tomorrow being Valentine’s Day the Troggs’ 1967 hit ‘Love Is All Around’ seems appropriate as the team look to make up for Tuesday’s disappointment.
Opponents Maidenhead since changing manager have sneaked up the table to sit just outside the play-off places so it’ll be another tough match. And more birds to battle, this time Magpies.
It would be good to think that a 3,000 plus crowd will be inside the stadium.

With Jordan Dyer’s hamstring injury keeping him out for possibly two months it was wise to bring in Exeter loanee Ed James along with the welcome news that fan favourite Kieran Wilson will be staying to the end of the season.
Currently the top four in the South table are separated by only four points but bear in mind Hornchurch have two games in hand and Dorking one.

Owing to opponents Bradworthy being unable to field a team in a cup semi-final, United’s Women move automatically into the Red Rock Electric Women’s Premier Cup Final against either SB Oak Villa Ladies or Appledore Women.
Last Sunday’s league fixture against Sherborne Ladies was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Just to clear up some comments recently on social media. The club has joint groundsmen working daily on the pitch with numerous volunteers while ex-groundsman Chris Ralph, now at Argyle, is working also for the club as a consultant.
Every effort with additional resources were put in place to get the Dorking game on but the amount of rainfall was too great. March 24th is the new date.
