DANNI WYATT BECOMES THE SECOND TUST APPOINTED TUFC BOARD MEMBER
ALL
ABOARD FOR THE PLAINMOOR LEGENDS EVENING
UNITED COME FROM BEHIND TO DEFEAT THE LEAGUE LEADERS
With the handing over recently of the Community Share Issue cheque for £222,000 came the opportunity for TUST to have a second non-executive director on the football club board.
TUST members, provided they met the criteria, were invited to apply and initially eight did so. Through a rigorous interview procedure this number was reduced to two.
The two candidates were invited to make a presentation last week to the TUST board which included United’s co-chairmen Michael Westcott and Mark Bowes-Cavanagh as guests. The candidates were asked a series of questions and given the chance to ask their own.
Both candidates were very strong contenders and after Michael and Mark withdrew, the TUST board made the unanimous decision to appoint Danni Wyatt.

Danni’s is a well known face at Plainmoor having become a fan from around the age of eight when her Primary school head took her and other children to play on the pitch before a game. Danni went on to play football before becoming captain of the club’s women’s side.
In addition Danni is the active TUFC ambassador for the national ‘HerGameToo’.
On her appointment Danni had this to say, “I am delighted to be given this amazing opportunity to represent supporters on the board of our football club. My vision centres on fostering a vibrant atmosphere where supporters feel valued and engaged, further strengthening the bond between the club and its community.”
She’ll be a fresh new voice to represent all fans. Her position is subject to passing the FA’s Fit and Proper Test for owners and directors.
Michael Westcott said, “We are delighted that Danni joins United’s board. She has a wide set of skills and new perspectives to bring to the Plainmoor boardroom as she becomes our youngest board member - possibly one of the youngest directors in the 125-year history of our football club.”
Should you wish to learn more about Danni she was interviewed on TorquayTalk’s Gull’s Eye View in which she talks about her background and her thoughts going forward. You can find it on youtube.com/@TORQUAYTALK.
Talking of TorquayTalk congratulations on their bronze medal in the Football Contents Award 2024 in the ‘Best in Non-League Podcast’ category.

Whist Storm Bert tried its hardest to make United’s match at Boreham Wood on Saturday as difficult as possible, the Women’s league fixture on Sunday at Coach Road was called off when the visitors were reluctant to travel.
Boreham Wood, recently relegated from the National League with a good number of their players still of that quality and with Luke Garrard restored as manager, are a difficult team to break down so keeping a clean sheet was an impressive performance. Jay Foulston made the Team of the Week.
Predictably, the two managers had differing opinions after the game. Wood boss Garrard felt, despite being early still in the season, that ‘this was a six pointer, so it’s two points dropped’, while Paul Wotton’s view was a well learnt point at a team likely to be challenging for promotion come the end of the campaign.

Out on loan at Bath City, Ben Seymour got 70 minutes while Ollie Tomlinson came on in added time right at the end in a 1-0 defeat on Saturday.

Thursday is TUST’s AGM in the Cove at 6.30pm. Having for years held this annual event away from Plainmoor it’s good that we are back at the home of football and we are grateful to the club for allowing this.

Tuesday was a magical night as league leaders Weston-Super-Mare were in town with a formidable away record having been beaten only once so far on their travels.
On a very wet evening under the lights it was a night to remember for nearly 3,000 in the crowd as United came from behind to overcome a red card to win 4-2. More in next week’s column.
On Saturday United travel to Enfield Town having defeated them on the opening day, while on Monday TUST is at the FSA football awards in London.
